Financial Services Company Launches Drawing Competition in Qatar for Young Children to Raise Awareness of Environmental Issues

Thousands of primary school children in Qatar are being asked to create original artwork based on environmental themes as part of an awareness raising initiative by Nexus, one of region’s leading independent financial services networks.
The environmentally-conscious drawing competition is being rolled out to more than 35 schools across the state, following a recent government initiative to educate the population on the importance of sustainable living.
Five to eight year olds are being asked to generate art under the theme of ‘Recycle’, while nine to 12 years olds have been given the theme ‘Save Our Planet’.
Sharon Gardner, Director and General Manager of Nexus’ Qatar Financial Centre Branch, said: “This Nexus competition has been launched to help raise awareness among children in Qatar about the important environmental issues of the day.”
“Nexus decided to focus on green issues in response to the Qatar government’s emphasis on education in this field, and we hope that by involving young children we will help develop a natural concern for the environment now and into the future,” she added.
Artwork entered for the competition will be judged by Nexus representatives and prizes, including lap tops, play-stations and MP3 players will be awarded to the winners, who will also see their drawings displayed in participating schools.
